Employee retention is shaped from the very beginning of the employee experience. While HR often owns the structure of onboarding, managers play a critical role in helping new employees understand expectations, build relationships, gain confidence, and see a future within the organization.
In this session, Dr. Cherie Comeau will introduce a framework for strengthening onboarding across five key areas. Participants will explore the shared roles of HR and managers, ways to personalize the onboarding experience through behavioral insight, and practical approaches that can work across different team sizes, budgets, and levels of HR capacity.
Attendees will leave with ideas they can use to assess their current onboarding approach, identify gaps that may be affecting the employee experience, and strengthen the connection between onboarding, manager effectiveness, development, and retention.
This program is valid for 1.25 PDCs for the SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® and 1.25 HR (General) recertification credit hours toward aPHR™, aPHRi™, PHR®, PHRca®, SPHR®, GPHR®, PHRi™ and SPHRi™recertification through HR Certification Institute® (HRCI®).
